You might say we are a little backward and we are proud of it! We believe in practicing the "old fashioned way," the way health care should be. We practice in a personalized, family practitioner manner. This is quite different from the big business, high volume commercial chain store approach. We spend time getting to know you, your work needs, your relaxation activities and how they affect and are affected by your vision and eye health.
We may be "backwards" but we are progressive! We practice primary health care using state-of-the-art techniques. Our examinations include screenings for high blood pressure, diabetes, and glaucoma. We are certified by the New York State Education and Licensing Department to use medicines to treat your eyes when necessary and to perform diagnostic and monitoring procedures.
Dr. Naparstek, a fellow of the prestigious American Academy of Optometry and the New York Academy of Optometry, has been active in contact lens related research and has presented papers at their meetings. Dr. Naparstek has been active in many community out reach programs associated with geriatric and pediatric vision care and has become a consultant for the Laser Vision correction. He has seen many patients with a very wide prescription range. Even patients with higher astigmatisms can now be treated.
Dr. Michele Maxwell has joined the practice and has completed externships in contact lenses and primary eye health care, with additional training in pediatrics and ocular disease. Before making a career change to optometry, Dr. Maxwell enjoyed a previous life as a cartographer with United Parcel Service and The Washington Post.
Dr. Andrea Zimmerman was associated with the practice for 19 years. She is now a full time low vision specialist for the prestigious Lighthouse for the Blind.
We have all earned doctorates and graduated with honors from the State University of New York College of Optometry.
Dr. Naparstek was an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Contact Lens Service.
On our premises, we have an optical boutique with an extensive selection of eyeglass frames for all ages, including a special children's collection. We also have our own optical lab so these quality, high fashion glasses will be expediently made with our guidance and final approval. We believe in "life style" dispensing: different glasses for your different activities. We can suggest shapes, colors materials, and styles to provide you with a different look for each facet of your life. We can make suggestions for protective eyewear for sunglasses, sports vision and CRT/VDT operation. Our standard ophthalmic lenses are UV shielded and scratch resistant, in order to provide you with the safest and best quality product available. We specialize in the Ultimate thin lenses and the progressive no-line bifocals.
We carry a large selection of designer frames: Prada, Calvin Klein, Coach, Kate Spade, Polo Ralph Lauren, Flexon, Armani, Salt, ProDesign, and many others!
